- 1). Pick your vacation travel date. There are a few things to consider when selecting the travel date. Florida has a hurricane season that runs from June 1st through November 31st of every year, which you should keep in mind. The good news about that is this is also the “out of season” period and therefore, you can find some great deals. It is very rare for a hurricane to actually affect the state. If one is predicted while you are vacationing, you will know several days in advance. If you have never been to a tropical climate, you must also remember that Florida (and especially south Florida) is very warm and humid during the summer and fall months. Select a few dates, but if you can be flexible on them so you may be able to get a better deal.
- 2). Prepare a budget for your vacation. You will need to know approximately what you can afford to spend on your trip. The cost of arriving can vary tremendously depending on where you are coming from and what method of travel you will be taking to get to Florida. Figure the price you can afford for lodging, transportation, food, activities, attractions, souvenirs and any other costs you can think of. The amount of money you have available to spend on your vacation will dictate all financial matters of your trip.
