What Is Social Networking?Marketing On The Internet Is Being Revolutionized

Social networking is one of the most popular trends on the internet today. Unless you have been living in a cave for the last few years, you will have heard of social networking sites. The most popular social network sites are places like Myspace, Facebook and Bebo. These sites currently have millions of active users.
These users go to sites like these to meet new people and make new friends. But more recently, social network sites haven't just been used for personal use, businesses have been using social network profiles to market their brand. This is happening more and more often now. Businesses can now see the awesome power of social network sites and are now learning to utilize it. Setting up a Myspace profile is a great way for a business, especially an online one, to get free exposure. They create their own page on the site and then develop a large following of friends.
With such a large audience potential its no surprise that Myspace makes such a large amount of money. It is estimated that Myspace has over 100 million users worldwide. So how much does this make the popular social networking site? Millions and millions of dollars, simply from advertisements. That is certainly one website that a lot of people would like to own.
There are more and more of these social network sites springing up on the internet all the time, but most of them never achieve as much success as myspace. So why is this? There is a simple answer to that, and that is marketing. Most of these new sites don't market them correctly. They are not using the correct methods of marketing for their target market. Myspace is such a success because of the way it has been marketed. Most of the users on the site are 25 and under, so this is where the marketing team targeted to get these users to their site. And now they enjoy a large stream of targeted traffic to their site because of this effective marketing strategy. Other sites have followed suit and are now just a few steps behind the original site. Facebook for example is said to be overtaking Myspace in user count, and is quickly becoming the most popular social networking site of all.
