How To Avoid The Dreaded Plateau

For most that are on an exercise and diet plan will often find it surprising on how quick the body tends to lose weight along with fat and liquids. But after some time the metabolism simply begins to slow down or even stop from losing any more weight. This is when the term plateau comes into play; it is simply the body getting used to the same movement and motion from exercise and diet.

The plateau is when the body is unable or simply refuses to give you any further results from your exercise regimen, which can be discouraging, disappointing and frustrating.

Many diet programs will avoid or intentionally fail to mention the issue of the plateau as it may be a contradiction of any diet plan or exercise program which can be viewed as bad business for the health industry. There are other ways to avoiding the body from hitting a wall or plateau for exercising and losing weight.

Your body's metabolism becomes accustomed to the same exercises and diet plans that will sabotage any attempt at weight loss, especially if changes are not made. You can do this by tricking the body and metabolism with a variety of different exercises to keep the calorie burning process going and without any harm to your body.

Try adding resistance training, calisthenics and any type of physical activity that can help you to move forward and achieve your goal. To avoid a plateau be sure you are not over training and give the body sufficient time to rest and repair it self and the other is to provide enough calories to sustain your physical workouts.

Another way to avoid this is by changing your eating patterns. A simple change in when you eat and by adding three additional meals in your day, but reducing the portion size, will have a positive effect on the metabolism. The idea is to keep your metabolism working and burning the calories throughout the day.

With any type of diet plan and exercise program, remember no two bodies are alike. Some have a fast metabolism and others have a slow metabolism, this may require changes in your diet and adding a variety of different exercise programs to achieve success in weight loss. The key is to find one that is suited to your metabolism, which will take some patience and time. Before attempting any type of diet plan or exercise program be sure to consult with your physician.
