Question: Is it Possible to Run Homebrew on PSP Firmware 1.51 and 1.52?
If you don't know which firmware your PSP has, check this tutorial to find out.
Answer:
The short answer is no, you can't run homebrew on a PSP with firmware 1.51 or 1.52. It was with these firmware versions that Sony added extra security to prevent people from using homebrew to run illegally copied games. Homebrew will not run on a PSP with firmware 1.51 or 1.52.
The slightly longer answer is that all hope is not lost. There's no point in keeping firmware 1.51 or 1.52 on your PSP anyway, since you can't even play new games unless you update. So if you have a PSP with one of these firmwares, you can do a couple of things.
First, you can simply update to a more recent firmware that will allow you to run homebrew. You can find downloads for many different versions online (but make sure to use a trusted source for downloading).
Once you've upgraded to a more recent firmware, you can then choose to either keep the firmware you just updated to (if you're looking for one to run homebrew on, check the rest of the tutorials in this series as they're posted for one that will do what you're looking for), you can install a custom firmware (watch for an upcoming tutorial), or you can downgrade to firmware version 1.50 to be able to run all homebrew (again, watch for an upcoming tutorial).
