With the explosion of internet usage in recent years, so many of us sit in front of the computer for hours at a time and get lost in cyberspace.
Whether it's surfing, doing research, or playing games, prolonged sitting and looking at the computer screen and it's images can be tiring for both the body and the eyes.
And the eyes often get overlooked when it comes to methods we can utilize to keep them primed.
This article offers two quick and effective exercises to ease eye strain, and it will take about 5 minutes to do them both.
Hopefully, you will find them so easy and effective, you will make the time to them as many times as you feel is necessary to keep you going throughout your day! First, just sit with your elbows on a table and gently place the palm of each hand over an eye.
Be sure to relax yourself, especially the neck area.
Maybe do some deep breathing.
And try not to press too hard on the eyeballs with your palms.
Start out with this palming procedure for about 1 to 2 minutes.
In reality, you can't overdo it, so you can either build up your time (because you find it so relaxing for your eyes), or try palming multiple times a day.
Experiment and see what works best for you! Next exercise is actually a set of 6 eye movements, but if you do them sequentially (once you get the hang of it), it can take about 3 minutes or so to complete.
Remember, the eyeball has numerous sets of muscles surrounding it.
They don't get the 'exercise' that they need.
This set of 6 exercises greatly reduces the stress of the eyes.
Immediately.
Basically, the 6 exercises can be divided as follows: Left to right, similar to 9 to 3 on a clock, 14 times Up and down, similar to 12 to 6 on a clock, 14 times Diagonally from 10 to 4 on a clock, 14 times Diagonally from 2 to 8 on a clock, 14 times Full circle rotations from 6 to 6 on a clock, clockwise, 14 times Full circle rotations from 6 to 6 on a clock, counter-clockwise, 14 times The same applies to these 6 exercises as the first one.
You can't really overdo them, so feel free to engage in them numerous times a day if you feel the need.
And that's it! Keep in mind, when you first start doing these exercises, it might feel a bit awkward, but keep going.
You will be surprised at how such simple little 'tricks' can relieve eye strain so quickly.
