How to Find the Age of an Upright Freezer

    • 1). Inspect the freezer to find the tag with the model number and serial number. This tag is commonly found on the inside wall, on the face frame, or behind the kick-plate. It may also be on an exterior side or on the back.

    • 2). Write down the model and serial numbers. Both numbers usually have letters and numbers. Don't mistake a zero for an O; a 1 for an I; a 2 for a Z or a 5 for an S. Make a note of the appliance's brand name and country of origin.

    • 3). Select your appliance type and brand on an appliance date code search site such as Appliance411 or Appliance Factory Parts. Type the model and serial numbers in the provided fields. Unless the instructions on the site say otherwise, type both complete numbers exactly as they appear on the tag, preserving capitalization, spacing, and dashes.

    • 4). Press "Enter" to return the year of the freezer's manufacture. Subtract the four-digit year from the current four-digit year to find the age of the freezer.
