- 1). Choose areas to mount the heater vents and the heater unit. The heater unit should be next to the engine, below the level of the radiator cap.
- 2). Determine what temperature range the boat motor thermostat is. Stock thermostats tend to have a 140-degree range. However, the Heater Craft heater works more efficiently with a 160-degree range thermostat. If the thermostat needs to be upgraded, locate the thermostat housing on the engine, using the owners guide for the specific boat to do so if necessary. Remove the old thermostat with a Phillips screwdriver and install a new one.
- 3). Use a wrench to take off the cooling system plug on the boat engine's intake manifold. It is at the front of the engine near the thermostat. Screw on the hose barb, which should come with the heater's mounting hardware.
- 4). Use a wrench to remove the water pump housing plug and then screw in the hose barb by hand. Tighten with the wrench.
- 5). Use a knife to cut the water hoses to length, which will be far enough to run from the water pump and cooling system to where the heater is mounted.
- 6). Slip the clamp over each hose and then slip the ends of the hoses over the water pump and cooling system hose barbs respectively. Tighten the clamps with a Phillips screwdriver.
- 7). Place and mount the vents. The vent hoses are attached to the vents already. Mark the mounting holes with a pencil; drill if necessary and then mount with the mounting hardware included with the heater.
- 8). Attach the water pump and cooling system hoses to the corresponding mounting areas on the back side of the heater. Tighten the clamps with a Phillips screwdriver.
- 9). Run the vent hoses to the heater blower and attach them with clamps.

Locate a place to mount the heater fan switch plate and then mount it by screwing in the mounting screws with a screwdriver. - 11
Connect the black ground wire running from the heater to the negative battery cable on the boat using an adjustable wrench. - 12
Connect the switch power cable, with inline resistor, to the positive battery terminal with an adjustable wrench.
