Bead Design Board
Gather beads to create a particular piece of jewelry such as a one-strand necklace. Collect more than may be used for this project in order to "work out" a design as the beads are arranged and rearranged before stringing them on the jewelry wire. - 2
Tools & supplies
Lay the bead design board on a work table with the rounded end of the grooves toward the crafter. Starting at the center of one of the rounded grooves nearest the crafter, lay the center bead for the necklace to be created. Then add beads on either side of the center bead in a design until the desired length is reached marked on the bead design board. For example, an 18-inch or 20-inch necklace is standard; however, personal taste will determine the length. - 3

Cut a long piece of jewelry wire with the jewelry wire cutter and string the beads from the bead design board by hand, one at a time beginning with one end of the line of beads. - 4). When all the beads are strung on the jewelry wire, attach one part of the jewelry toggle clasp (2 pieces) and secure it to the jewelry wire by making several knots. Flatten the knots with a jewelry crimper. Slip the end of the jewelry wire through two or three beads nearest the toggle clasp, then cut the wire with the jewelry wire cutter. Do the same thing at the other end of the costume jewelry necklace with the second toggle clasp piece.
