Function

• Stugeron acts by blocking the receptors for the vomiting centers in the brain and prevent their activation and stop the symptoms of motion sickness and ear disorders. Stugeron is also an effective treatment for nystagmus or jittery movements of the eye. It is also combined with other medications to treat peripheral artery disease (PAD)--narrowing of the arteries particularly in the legs. Stugeron is available in tablet or capsule forms.
  
  

Side Effects

• Common side effects of Stugeron may include dizziness, a feeling of listlessness and loss of focus and concentration. There may also be varying degrees of sedation from slight drowsiness and up to deep sleep. These sedative effects may decrease as your body adjusts to this medication.
  
  

Other Side Effects

• These may include gastro-intestinal symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting and epigastric pain, diarrhea or constipation. In addition there may be headache, dry mouth and sweating or increased appetite with weight gain and signs of jaundice such as yellowish discoloration of the skin and cornea (white of the eyes). Other symptoms may include blurred vision, painful or difficulty passing urine and increased appetite or anorexia. Contact your doctor for any of these symptoms.
  
  

Addtional Symptoms

• These symptoms may include muscular weakness, euphoria or a feeling of extreme happiness and well-being. Elderly patients may show signs of aggravation or feelings of depression with prolonged treatment. Other symptoms of pronged therapy in the elderly may include twitching or tremor or rigidity of the face, neck and tongue or the hands and legs. Seek immediate medical care for any of these symptoms.
  
  

Precautions

• Discuss your medical history with your doctor. Include any medications you may be taking, herbal products or over-the-counter drugs. Avoid alcohol that may increase drowsiness. Keep this medication in a safe place and away from children. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant breast feeding or planning to get pregnant. Assess the reaction of your alertness level before driving or working with machinery.
  
  

Allergic Reaction

• An allergic reaction is a serious medical emergency; the symptoms may include a rash or hive with itching, swelling of the face, mouth and tongue or throat. Other symptoms include tightness in the chest, wheezing or shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. Contact your doctor if any of these symptoms occur while taking Stugeron.
