- 1). Place the wig on a wig stand.
- 2). Gently brush out snarls using a wide-toothed wooden or wire comb. Start from the base of the hair and work your way toward the top.
- 3). Place the wig under cold running water. Allow the water to run over the wig but never let the water run against the grain of the hair, which can create tangles.
- 4). Apply wig shampoo to the hair and use your fingers to gently massage it into the wig.
- 5). Rinse off the shampoo and apply conditioner in the same fashion. Conditioner will work wonders in removing snarls in the wig. Use your fingers to pull apart tangles that would not come apart when the wig was dry.
- 6). Rinse the wig a second time. Pat it dry to remove extra water.
- 7). Place the wig on your wig stand and comb the hair one final time before letting it sit to dry.
