How to Adjust Carburetor Air Screws

    • 1). Turn on your vehicle. Allow it to warm up to the proper operating temperature. Turn the screw to turn the idle up to 500 RPMs higher than normal.

    • 2). Tighten the air-screw all the way.

    • 3). Start to loosen the screw. Make 1/4 turn and wait 15 seconds for the engine's idle to adjust to the change. Keep making 1/4 turns and pausing for 15 seconds until the engine starts to idle at the highest RPM reading. This is usually accomplished within one to two full turns of the adjustment screw.
