If you smoke a lot the nicotine will get on your slats, when you are looking outside you often touch the slats with your dirty hands and this can leave some dark fingerprints on the slats. One thing you want to do when you are going to clean the vertical blind slats is investigating if the mark can be removed by vacuum cleaner or that it needs some more attention. When there are, after vacuuming or soft brushing, there are still some marks noticeable take a sponge, an almost dry cloth and some warm water and try to rub the mark off. Do not get to excited when rubbing because you can damage the fabric and make it only worse.

What if the stain is still there after these two basic steps?
The first thing you could try is to use a mild detergent on the stain. There are some blind cleaners available so you could try one of these to clean the stain. Another option to clean your vertical blinds is to prepare a warm bath with a little bit of mild detergent and clean your blinds in it. You can let them dry on a line or with a towel beneath them. Once they are dried some vertical blinds can be ironed at a low temperature so you do not damage the fabric.

If these methods do not work and you still see a stain there are two options left. One is to move the slat with the stain out of sight.
