- 1). Remove weeds and grass from a planting site that receives at least eight hours of sun exposure daily, as this is the principal requirement for successfully growing sedum.
- 2). Evaluate the soil quality in your selected site. Sedum telephioides prefers a moderate or even poor quality soil that is coarse and/or easy draining and where water never pools in the soil over time. Rockeries, slopes, pots and planters and other well drained soil sites are all ideal.
- 3). Excavate a small hole with a trowel to accommodate the sedum root mass without compression.
- 4). Place the plant in the soil with the top of the root ball level with and never below the surrounding soil. Firm the loose soil around the root ball gently to make good contact between the roots and soil.
- 5). Water in the plant around the base until the roots and surrounding soil are wet, but not swimming in water.
