- Bring to life an underwater scene on your flower pot. After cleaning the surface of the container, use a pencil to sketch whatever design you choose. Draw your favorite tropical reef fish, such as the clown fish, or showcase a river scene with swimming salmon. Use acrylic paints and a paintbrush to color in your pencil design. Outline each colored-in shape with black paint and a fine paintbrush to make the details stand out.
- Adhere items to your flower pot to create an array of fish shapes and themes. Place a dab of hot glue on the back of rhinestones and sequins to create the outline of a fish. Fill in the shape with more glue from a hot glue gun and sprinkle glitter or small beads on top. These adornments will only adhere where the glue was laid, and make the look of a fish's shiny scales inside the shape. Buy small plastic or ceramic figurines and adhere them to the pot with an epoxy glue.
- Stamp some fishy designs onto your flower pot. Buy fish-shaped stamps from a craft store, dip them in an acrylic paint and place them on the sides of the container. Use squiggly line stamps to create seaweed around the fish, and seashell-shaped stamps as added adornments. Create your own fish-inspired stamps using a potato. Cut the spud in half and carefully carve away the sides to make the shape of a fish extending from the surface. Dip it in paint and use it as you would any other stamp.
- Make the entire flower pot look like a fish by cutting out and attaching shapes on the container. Use a sturdy piece of paper, such as poster board or cardstock, to draw and color in the half-circle head shape of a fish. Create a crescent shape for the animal's tail and a triangle-shaped fin. Draw a 1-inch thick tab at the edge of each shape where it will attach to the flower pot. Cut out around the shapes. Bend the tab backwards at a 90-degree angle and place glue along its surface. Attach the fish's head to one side of the flower pot, the tail on the opposite side and the fin in the middle.
