How to Breed Cobb Chickens

    • 1). Select your breeding pair by identifying any abnormalities on your chickens. One of the easiest ways to do this is to open the chicken's wingspan and ensure a straight wingspan which is a general indicator for good health. If you are unable to notice any abnormalities, your chickens are ready for breeding.

    • 2). Fill the interior of your hutch with hay and place your seedless cotton in a corner in the interior of your hutch. Place your heating lamp above your cotton corner and ensure that the heat within the corner remains between 80-85 degrees F to help attract the female cobb to lay her eggs on the cotton.

    • 3). Release the cobbs into your hutch and remove the male cobb after the female has laid her eggs (this will most likely happen within three days). Ensure you monitor the corner temperature regularly so that it stays in the 80-85 degree F range.

    • 4). Feed the female cobb regularly with high quality bird seed to ensure her strength to incubate the eggs. Within eight weeks the eggs will hatch and you will have successfully bred cobb chickens.
