How to Grow Bird Seed on Cotton Wool

    • 1). Cut a piece of cotton wool to fit a baking tray, using a pair of sharp scissors. Spread the cotton wool out flat on the baking tray.

    • 2). Sprinkle bird seed onto the cotton batting. Use your hand to fan out the seeds in a single layer.

    • 3). Set the bird seed tray in an area that receives indirect, bright sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cook the bird seed sprouts.

    • 4). Mist the bird seed with water from a spray bottle after sprinkling them on the cotton wool. Spray the bird seed once a day, every day until sprouting occurs.

    • 5). Offer the sprouts to the birds immediately to avoid spoilage. Simply remove the sprouts from the cotton wool and set in your bird's bowl. Repeat the process using a fresh piece of cotton wool and fresh bird seeds.
