Packaging is used for a variety of reasons that range from packing for a move, storing objects, shipping and even organizing. Using the appropriate packaging requires knowing which packaging is best for the needs of the package. For example, a box shipped through the mail needs a lid or a way to close while a package for organizing does not require a lid or top. - Paper packaging is the use of paper products, like an envelope, to send a package. There are a variety of paper packing options, such as envelopes with bubble wrap inside or envelopes without bubble wrap. Paper packaging is used for small items that are not easily damaged, such asa book. It is not suggested for breakables and is useless for large items.
- The box with a lid style is a box that has four sides and a bottom with an open top. A lid is added to the box to close and seal it. This packaging style is ideal for storage because it is easy to get into if an item inside is needed, but it can close by adding the lid. While it is possible to ship using this type of box, the risk related to the box is the lid coming off and spilling the contents. If using this option for shipping, tape the lid on firmly with packing tape so it will not come off.
- There are several options for boxes that have a top that folds down to close. The basic box is only one type. There are the types used in restaurants that fold down on one side to cover the food item, and the type that have three folding sides to close. These are used for a variety of purposes ranging from moving to shipping and even to transporting foods from a restaurant.
