- 1). Access Google's website (http://www.google.com) and sign in to your Google account. If you do not have a Google account, click on the "Create an account now" link and follow all onscreen directions.
- 2). Click on the "Maps" link to access Google Maps and click the "My Maps" link to start.
- 3). Click the "Create New Map" link. You will be asked to enter the map's title, description, and privacy settings. Enter the requested information and set the privacy settings to either Public or Unlisted, depending on the purpose of the map.
- 4). Find your map's general location using the map on the right side of the screen. Click and drag the screen to scroll to your location. Zoom in or out by clicking on the sliding bar to the left of the map.
- 5). Select the placemark button (indicated by a blue ballon) and place it on your starting location. You will be asked to enter the name and description for this placemark. Click the "OK" button when you are finished. Place placemarks over any other key locations on your map as needed.
- 6). Select the line tool button and set your route. Double click on your starting point and draw a line to your first turn. Click once to set this point and continue drawing lines to set your route. Once you have completed your route by drawing lines, double click to set the end of the route. Enter in the title and description for the end point.
- 7). Click on the "Done" button to save the map.
