- 1). Defeat Blue in the Viridian Gym on Cinnibar Island to get the Earth Badge, which gives your Pokemon the Rock Climb ability.
- 2). Prepare your team and heal all members. Fly to Ecrutreak City.
- 3). Move east to the tollbooth that leads to Route 42.
- 4). Go east on Route 42 toward Mount Mortar. Just before you reach a small lake, take the first entrance into the mountain.
- 5). Reach the first challenger inside Mount Mortar by first going north and entering another cave. Head to the east and you will encounter a Pokemaniac, whom you must duel.
