Astrology in Judaism Speculum. the Biblical Period - Vol II -abraham, Balaam , Moses

Astrology in Judaism speculum. The Biblical period - Vol II

Abraham, Balaam , Moses.

Abraham

According to Jewish tradition, Abraham was born in the city of Ur in Babylonia in the year 1948 from Creation (circa 1800 BCE). He was the son of Terach, an idol merchant.

The night before Abram was born, King Nimrod's astrologers were gathered at Terah's house. Looking out into the night sky, they read in the constellation of the stars that the newly born child was to become the chief and the father of a mighty nation.

From his early childhood, Abtaham questioned the faith of his father and sought the truth. He came to believe that the entire universe was the work of a single Creator the Lord, and he began to teach this belief to others.

Abram had watched the sun and the moon and the stars coming and going, each in its own time. He had noticed the sun giving way to the moon, despite its apparent divine power, and the moon giving place to the sun in the morning.

And so Abraham reasoned that there must be a power above and beyond all the visible forces of nature, an entity Who had created them, and Who regulated and controlled them at all times. Behind the limited power of all nature, young Abrham perceived the unlimited and timeless existence of Lord.

Then Lord made Himself known to Abrham and taught him the right way of living.

And He took him outside and said, "Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be."Genisis Chp 15/5.

The book of the Zohar Interpretation is that Abraham foreseed in the stars that he should not have any descendants, but the Lord said to Abrahm, saying you shell not look it too the wisdom of the stars, but in to the secrete wisdom of my name, there you wil find out the feuture. Sefer Hazohar , Perush Hasulam Vol IV L'ech L'lecha

Rabbi Yochanan gives his interpretation to this episode saying namely, that Abraham left the influence of the stars, sinc e he cecome bleesed to be above the zodiac impact. Abraham the Astrologer forsee in the stars that he shoud not have any sons in his desteny, Abrahan told the Lord what he predict about his descendants, than the Lord took him out and toled Abraham look atthe stars and try to caunt them,as much stars are in the sky as much will be your descedants, from now you (Abraham) are above the influence of the zodiacl system.

Jewish tradition attributed to Abraham the books "S'efer H'yetzira  -The Book of Creation", this book is containing a few pages only, and this book outlines the influence not only of the stars but also the constellations familiar to Western Astrology. How ever this book is written like a book of codes, and those codes are the secrets of the time and space, all the hidden secrets of the universe

See "The Secrets of Time " by Rabbi Dr' Philip S. Berg

Thus Abraham was first of all an astrologer, up to the time that the Lord ordered him to live the zodiacal system. The Lord thought Abraham the secrets of the Lord's names, and how to manipulate the Alfa Beta characters, since that point in time, Abraham is a prophet which recieves his knololedge in a direct communication with the Lord, knowing the Lord names secretes and powers, strength and might.

How ever although abaham chaneged his way ( since he was not under the influence of the zodical sysytem), a grate respect to Astrology remins.

We can learen about his respect to astrology from the scene which took place at the  encounter of Abraham and Malkchi-Zedek, Malkchi-Zedek was a high prist for the Lord, living in the city named Shalem which is the city of Jerusalem, Malkchi -Zedek was under the patronage of the planet Jupiter (ZEDEK). Abraham acknowledge the important of Malkchi-Zedek and there for submited hid with giftes as they condacted thire meeting at the enterence to the city Shalem

Balaam

"Balak the son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time, So he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor, at Pethor, which is near the River, in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying, "Behold, a people came out of Egypt; behold, they cover the surface of the land, and they are living opposite me. "Now, therefore, please come, curse this people for me since they are too mighty for me; perhaps I may be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land".Numbers 22/1

Balaam, the far-famed soothsayer, operated to a certain extent in genuine spiritual power, he was sensitive to the spiritual realm, and he knew how to operate in it very well. Balaam curses were regarded as all-powerful,.

Balaam utilized his gift for destruction and damnation, seeking to manipulate divine will against the victims of his wrath. Balaam intended to apply his usual tactics, namnly  sorcery and soothsaying. But, in an ironic twist of faith, the Lord pulled the curses from Balaam's mouth and implanted instead a beautiful ode to the Jews--an ode that ranks as the highest praise of Jewish people in all of the Torah.

Balaam knew how to manipulate the heavenly powers on the ertly inhabitants, since he (Balaam) knew the secrets of the signs and planets.

See.: Ibn Ezra, " Interpretation to the Thora Numbers 22/25"

Ibn Ezra's aim was to underestemate Balaam's powers as a person how can change the natur's caurse.Ezras whish was to reduce Balaam ability to astrology only , but probebly Balaam's powers were much mor developed and powerful than just Astrology can do, Balaam had deep unrevealed powerful secrets that now one can match with them.See: Dov Schwartz "Astral Magic in Medieval Jewish Thought"

The Nahmanides consept was that all Balaam action were according to his Astrological ability and not according to his magical ability, which means that someone has disterbed Balaam's powers in action. See: Nahmanides and his "Intepratation to the Thora  Numbers 22/33, 23/23."

Shemuel Ibn Tzartza interpreted that episode by saying that Balaam was trying to manipulate the planet Saturn, since Saturn is the ruler of the evil, he devastates lands, he arouses wars, and destroys kingdoms, moreover Balaam was in a hesitation should he use Mars's powers or Saturn's, finely he decided to use Saturn's influence. See: Dov Schwartz "Astral Magic in Medieval Jewish Thought"

Balaam challenged Moses on the pre-Sinai system, hoping to turn the Lord against his own children. Moses opposed him on the post-Sinai system, which actualized the truth that even on the most transcendent level Jacob would always be the favorite because his conduct is better, but because he is the chosen one. Here we had a straggle between two of the most spiritual powerful prophets figures in the Bible, one how was against the Lord trying to manipulate his will, and the other hand one who is serving the Lord and his obeys.

Moses

Moses (1393-1273BC) The greatest profhet to ever lived. Moses son of Amram and Jocheved'brother of Miriam and Aahron.

Moses was born in Egypt, and was raised by Pharaoh's daugther Betiyah.Moses after killing an Egyptian during a struggle fled to Midian, where he marrid Zipporah.Moses were sent beck to Egypt by the Lord to led the Israelites out, Moses led the Israelites for forty years while they were traveling in the dersert of Sini, all the while Moses was performing astonishing miracles and wonders. Moses died in the Plains of Moabb.

The day approached when, according to the Egyptian astrologers, the liberator of the children of Israel was to be born. Since they did not know whether he would be of Jewish or Egyptian descent, all male children born that day, were to be thrown into the water by order of King Pharaoh. This same day, the seventh of Adar, Jochebed, Amram's wife, gave birth to her third child, a boy.

"Now a man from the house of Levi went and married a daughter of Levi. The woman conceived and bore a son; and when she saw that he was beautiful, she hid him for three months But when she could hide him no longer, she got him a wicker basket and covered it over with tar and pitch. Then she put the child into it and set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile…..

The daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the Nile, with her maidens walking alongside the Nile; and she saw the basket among the reeds and sent her maid, and she brought it to her. When she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the boy was crying. And she had pity on him and said, "This is one of the Hebrews' children."

The child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter and he became her son. And she named him Moses, and said, "Because I drew him out of the water".

See :"Exodus 2/.2-10

Moses, as Pharaoh's adopted son, was well versed in Egyptian astrology. As the adopted son of pharaoh's daughter he was well educated in all the mystery school wisdom of Egyptr. He correlated the attributes of the twelve signs to the twelve tribes of Israel, then took the people from the tabernacle in the wilderness on their pilgrimage, lined up by zodiacal order. Rabbinical tradition asserts that the signs of the zodiac have represented the twelve tribes since antiquity.

Moses as a Prince was heir to Pharaoh Thutmose III, being his "Great Army Commander" - role ascribed to Moses by Hebrew tradition. Moreover, Moses  led victorious military campaigns against Ethiopia (Cush), then married the king's daughter, becoming Egypt's Viceroy there. A short time later, the Prince  was mysteriously struck out of Egyptian records, while the Bible hints Moses was cast into exile. Exploring some of the more esoteric aspects of the prophet's life.

The book uncovers the Hermetic star knowledge (Astrology) which Moses gleaned from the White Brotherhood, a secretive Egyptian mystery school who met in the halls of Karnak. This knowledge was cryptically infused into the early Biblical scriptures, revealing the Israelite ancestors were once devoted Astrologers.
