- Bears have a very distinct claw made of five padded toes with nails and a padded foot bed. Bear claws are oval shaped. To make a bear claw out of paper, use one color of construction paper to make a paw and a different color to make the toe and foot pads. Cut pointed triangles out of white paper to make the nails. You can choose different colors of paper to resemble different bears, such as white for a Polar bear or gray for a Koala bear.
- Crustacean claws are unique because they can be served for dinner. Crabs and lobsters both have pincer claws, which have a moving piece that can pinch predators. Make a moveable paper version of the crab or lobster claw by using a brad to attach the small piece of the pincer to the larger top piece of the claw. Red construction paper or shiny red card stock are appropriate choices for materials.
- Bird claws are especially appropriate for showcasing as a claw craft because birds tend to use the nail claw portion of their feet more than their actual toes. Make a paper bird claw craft by drawing three toes facing forward, like a pitchfork, and a fourth toe facing backwards. Add long pointed nails to each toe. To add dimension to the craft, wrap the paper nails around your finger to curl them.
- There are a variety of methods for crafting creepy paper claws. One option is to draw a skeleton hand with extra long nails. Use brads as joints to connect the bones. Make a dozen to decorate for a creepy Halloween party. Another option is to use one of the origami methods for folding three-dimensional claws out of paper. Using origami, you can create an individual claw tip for each of your fingers to transform your own hand into a creepy claw.
