Tree Trunk Protection From Rabbits

Rabbit Damage

  • Rabbits feed on the bark around the base of the trees, especially when they are young. The tender bark is an easy meal for the rabbits. However, as the rabbits eat the bark, they leave the tree susceptible to disease and insect pests, and severely girdled saplings may not survive the damage. Bark is necessary for the protection and growth of trees, and extensive damage to this protective covering leads to trees that cannot survive.
