How to Turn a Troy-Bilt Riding Lawn Mower Into a Mulcher

    • 1). Park the Snapper riding mower on a flat and level surface that is conducive for working. Set the parking brake and place the transmission in gear. Remove the key from the ignition switch to prevent accidental starting.

    • 2). Raise the cutting deck of the Snapper riding mower to the highest position. Put on gloves to protect hands and place a block of wood under the deck and position it against the inside of the deck.

    • 3). Turn the blade of the Snapper mower so it wedges the wood in place and the blade will not turn further.

    • 4). Loosen and remove the hex flange nut from the spindle bolt with a 15/16-inch socket wrench. Set the nut and blade aside and remove the other blade following the same procedure.

    • 5). Install a mulching blade on the Snapper mower making sure to position the blade with the word "bottom" toward the ground. Tighten the blade in place with the hex flange nut and socket wrench. Install the second mulching blade in the same manner.
