How to Stop a Male Cat From Spraying a Porch

    • 1). Rinse off the contaminated areas of the porch with a water hose. Fill a spray bottle with undiluted white vinegar, and liberally spray all of the affected areas to get rid of the odor. You can also spray a urine odor-removal product that contains natural enzymes to neutralize the urine spray scent.

    • 2). Distribute pet repellent granules around the perimeter of your porch and steps, according to the product instructions. This type of product is designed to produce an odor that is highly offensive to cats, yet non-offensive to humans.

    • 3). Connect a motion-activated water sprinkler to your garden hose and position it near the porch. When the offending cat approaches within 35 feet, the motion sensor will detect its presence and spray a stream of water for 3 seconds. The motion, sound and blast of water will frighten the cat away.
