How to Set Up a Drip Irrigation System for a Vegetable Garden

    • 1). Measure the length of the vegetable plot and purchase enough black hose to extend the entire length.

    • 2). Place the hose in the vegetable plot and use a white pen to mark where each emitter will be. Usually this will be at the root system of each individual plant.

    • 3). Punch a hole into the black hose at each mark and insert an emitter into each hole.

    • 4). Place an end cap on the black hose away from the water source. Place a hose connector on the end of the black hose closest to the water source.

    • 5). Attach the garden hose to the hose connector and turn on the water supply. Check each emitter individually to ensure that they are all dripping water onto the vegetable plot in the correct spots.

    • 6). Turn on the drip system each day for an hour, or as long as climate conditions require and local water regulations allow.
