- 1). Obtain a thin copper pipe that is approximately 1.5 feet in length. The pipe should be about one inch in diameter, but a little more or less is fine.
- 2). Drill a 1/4 inch hole 1.5 inches from the end of the pipe.
- 3). Turn the recorder over 180 degrees and drill a 1/4 inch hole three inches from the end of the pipe.
- 4). Drill a second hole of the same diameter 1.7 inches from the hole you drilled in Step 3.
- 5). Drill five more holes, each 1.7 inches from the one before it. The holes should be in a straight line.
- 6). Apply superglue to the base of a recorder mouth piece. The mouth piece should be one inch in diameter or roughly the same size as the diameter for the copper pipe.
- 7). Affix the mouth piece to the end of the recorder. Hold the mouth piece there until the glue is dry.
- 8). Put your lips to the mouth piece and place your fingers on the holes and play the recorder. The copper pipe should give the sound more of an echo than recorders made from some other materials.
