How to Kill Wintering Rose Thrips

    • 1). Clear all mulch and plant litter from the rose bed.

    • 2). Clear any weedy areas on your property or near your greenhouse.

    • 3). Bury all of the cleared mulch and plant material 1 foot deep, as far from the rose bed as possible. If the ground is too hard to dig, place the plant material in double-knotted plastic bags and throw it away. Do not compost the plant material or place it near the plants. It is likely infested with thrip eggs.

    • 4). Keep the area cleared all season long. This will deprive the thrips of egg-laying sites and control the local population.
