- 1). Purchase NLGI No. 2 general purpose grease for the Dodge D-Lock pillow block bearing. This can be found at
- 2). Grease the bearing while in normal operating mode and temperature. Attach the end of the hose of the grease gun to the grease fitting on the Dodge bearing machine. Allow the grease gun to support itself in place while you pump the lever. Never touch the grease fitting -- this is dangerous and can cause the grease to infect the skin. Wear gloves to protect your hands while doing this.
- 3). Grease the bearing slowly in small amounts. Do not force the lever with too much pressure. Let three to five seconds pass between pumps to allow the grease to spread into the bearing. If any excess grease starts to seep out from the seals, you have applied too much. Wipe away any extra grease with a clean rag.
- 4). Remove the grease gun and clean it with a rag.
