- 1). Inspect your food and throw away anything in which you find weevils. This food likely to be infested with them and will be beyond recovery. Although weevils won't damage your health if you ingest them, particularly when cooked, it can be extremely distressing to find them in your food.
- 2). Empty all of the cupboards in the vicinity of the area where you found the weevils.
- 3). Inspect all of the food that was stored near to where you found the weevils and discard if it you find evidence of their presence. Pay particular attention to food that has not been properly sealed in a container and is open to the elements. If you can, it's best to dispose of all of the food that was in close proximity to the weevils you found.
- 4). Vacuum the cupboard where you found the weevils.
- 5). Put on your rubber gloves and clean the cupboard in which you found the weevils and any other surfaces nearby with bleach or disinfectant. Use cleaning products liberally to ensure that you kill any remnants of larvae.
- 6). Allow the area that you've cleaned to dry naturally, then rinse it with a damp cloth and towel dry.
- 7). Replace the food in your cupboard after ensuring that you've eliminated the possibility that any of it may be infected with weevil larvae. Use clean, airtight containers--weevils can get into plastic bags.
