How to Keep Dirt Out of Your Shoes When Mowing a Lawn & Cutting Grass

    • 1). Pull on a pair of clean socks that they cover your feet and ankles to prevent the grass clippings from getting under the cuffs of your socks.

    • 2). Wear shoes that have a lace-up front and are high enough to the ankle so you can secure the shoe to your foot with a snug fit, keeping dirt out. Tie your laces to keep them from dragging when you walk, wrapping them around your ankles if they are extra long.

    • 3). Lift your feet when you walk so you step instead of scuff. Place your heel to the ground first and then your toes so you are stepping on the grass not through the grass.

    • 4). Mow the lawn when the ground is damp, not dry and dusty and not wet and muddy. Walking through dusty areas will cause your shoes to fill with dirt, while walking through mud will coat your shoes.
