- 1). Remove Hawaiian flowers from any packaging that they are in as soon as you receive them, and put them into vases immediately. Before placing the flowers into vases, trim off at least ½-inch of the flower's stem.
- 2). Fill the vase with water to ¾ full. Keep the vase ¾ full at all times to provide the flowers with plenty of water. Make sure the water is room temperature before submerging the stems of Hawaiian tropical flowers.
- 3). Remove the flowers from the vase and change the water in the vase by dumping the old water, cleaning the vase to remove any residue and filling it to ¾ full with water again. Cut the stems another ½ inch at least and return the flowers to the vase.
- 4). Keep the flowers away from direct heat sources, such as furnaces and fireplaces, and out of direct sunlight. Mist the flowers and leaves whenever you change the water to keep the flowers looking at their best.
- 1). Plant flowers that have been shipped with the roots still attached into planters so that the entire root system is beneath the soil. Pack soil around the roots and stem tightly enough to keep the flowers standing.
- 2). Keep the soil moist at all times, but do not leave water standing in the planter. Using a self-watering planter is ideal for providing enough water without overwatering.
- 3). Do not put a planter of Hawaiian tropical flowers near a heat source or in a location that receives direct sunlight. It's safe to put planted tropical flowers outside, but the flowers should be in an area that does not receive an excess of wind.
