How to Finish a Brick Porch

    • 1). Mix 1 part fine builder’s sand in a wheelbarrow with 1 part Portland cement. Add water until the mortar mixture achieves a mud-like consistency.

    • 2). Fill a grout bag with the mortar mixture. Squeeze the mortar into the cracks between the bricks until it begins to overflow.

    • 3). Scrape away excess mortar, using a putty knife. Allow the mortar to dry for 48 hours before proceeding.

    • 4). Wash the brick patio with a pressure washer and a trisodium phosphate solution to remove dirt and debris before applying sealer. Allow the patio to dry before proceeding.

    • 5). Pour sealer into a paint tray. Distribute it evenly over the brick surface, using a paint roller. Allow the finish to dry thoroughly and apply a second coat.
