- 1). Place a piece of the 4 foot by 8 foot plywood on a flat surface. Measure 1 foot in from an edge to the center along the 8 foot side and make a mark. Place the corner of the carpenter's square at that mark, and lay it flat on the board. Draw a 6 inch line from that mark toward the center of the board along the edge of the square.
- 2). Measure 5 foot 5 inches from the end of the first mark, towards the center of the board and make a mark. Place your 6 foot piece of 1-by-2 so that an and make a line between the end of the first line and the mark which is perpendicular to the first line and parallel to the 8 foot side.
- 3). Place your the corner of the carpenter's square at the end of the second line and lay it flat. Draw a 6 inch line from the corner away from the second line in an "L" shape. Place the 6 foot piece of 1-by-2 at the end of this 3rd line and draw a line perpendicular to the third to the edge of the board (the opposite edge from where you started). Cut out this "L" shaped pattern. Repeat this for another one of the 4 foot by 8 foot plywood boards.
- 4). Cut your piece of 2-by-4 so that it is 2 feet long. Cut one of your pieces of 4 foot by 8 foot plywood so that it is 84 inches by 25 1/2 inches.
- 5). Place the remaining piece of plywood on a flat surface. From one corner, measure 6 inches toward the center and make a mark. Place the carpenter's square at that mark and draw a 3/4 inch line perpendicular from the short side and parallel to the long side. Move the square so that the corner is on the end of the 3/4 inch line and draw a 6 inch line in the same direction toward the opposite end of the board from where you started. Move the square again and draw a 2 foot line perpendicular from the 6 inch line you just drew. Move the square and draw another 6 inch line back towards the longer edge. Move the square and draw another 3/4-inch line away from the short side and then draw a straight line back to the edge of the 8 foot side. Cut this "T" shape out with the saw.
- 6). Cut a piece of plywood which is 24 inches by 18 1/4-inches out of the piece you cut the "T" out of. Also, cut a piece of 3/4 inch plywood which is 2 foot by 1 foot out of this plywood. Drill 4 evenly spaces holes (there will be an inch in between each hole) though the piece of 2 foot 1-by-6 with the hole saw
- 1). Place the piece of 84 inches by 25 1/2 inches plywood on a flat surface. This is the back of the cabinet. Place one of the "L" shapes you cut on top of the back piece so that it is perpendicular to the back piece and against one of the edges. This is one side of the cabinet. Screw these pieces together with by driving in 2 inch screws through the back piece into the side piece. The screws should be set 6 inches to 1 foot apart. Repeat this for the other side piece to form a "U" shape. The bottom of the cabinet will be the "bottom" of the "L" shaped sides.
- 2). Place the piece of 2 foot by 1 foot 3/4 inch ply wood which you previously cut in between the cabinet sides so that it is against back piece and even with the "bottom" edges of the cabinet. Screw this piece into the cabinet frame by driving 2 inch wood screws through the back and side pieces. The screws should be 6 inches apart.
- 3). Stand the cabinet up (the piece you just placed is the bottom. Place the "T" piece of plywood you cut on top of the "L" side boards. This will be a shelf where the fishing rods will rest. Screw this into the cabinet by driving 2 inch screws from the top of the shelf into the part of the side pieces it is resting on and through the back piece.
- 4). Measure 6 inched from the top of the shelf up toward the cabinet top and make a mark. This is the location of the 2 foot piece of 1-by-2 which will hold the fishing rods. Place this piece in between the side piece. Screw it into place with 2 inch wood screws driven though the sides and back.
- 5). Measure 3 inches from the top of the open area at the bottom to ward the bottom of the cabinet and 3 inches from the bottom of the open area towards the top. This is the location for the hinges of the lower cabinet. Place hinges at those marks and screw them into place with 1 inch wood screws.
- 6). Attach the piece of 2 foot by 1 foot 7 inch plywood to the hinges to create a cabinet door. Place the handle on the cabinet door so that it is opposite the hinges. Close the cabinet door.
