- 1). Fold down the plastic trash bag to one-third of its length, folding the open end toward the bottom. Make a mark at the fold with a piece of tape. Turn the bag inside out to the one-third mark all around.
- 2). Use the vacuum sealer to heat-seal along the fold every two to four inches in both directions.
- 3). Invert a wire plant cage over the plant you want to insulate. Stake down the cage so the structure remains stable.
- 4). Cover the inverted cage with the plastic bag, folded side down. Unfold the plastic around the sides of the cage all the way down to the ground. Make a small tear or cut to open the space between the wire posts. This creates a vent to allow excess heat to escape.
- 5). Fill the sealed portions of the bag one-third full with water. Pour water into the sealed portions with a bucket.
