Christmas Bulletin Board Ideas for Elementary Teachers

    • Christmas cookes can be a theme for your classroom's bulletin board.James And James/Pixland/Getty Images

Teachers post festive bulletin boards to decorate the classroom and to present information to students in an exciting way. Celebrate Christmas with bulletin boards that discuss address different aspects of the holiday. Purchase bulletin board supplies from craft or teacher supply stores. Party stores are also a good resource for supplies, especially during the Christmas season when so many people decorate their homes.

    Cookies

    • Many families bake cookies at around Christmas to trade with other families and give as gifts. Give students papers with a blank box at the top and lines at the bottom, and have the students draw pictures of their favorite Christmas cookie and describe it. Attach the completed papers to the bulletin board in a pleasing fashion. Decorate the board with Christmas cookie shapes, such as gingerbread men and Christmas trees.

    Presents

    • Decorate a bulletin board with a large Christmas tree with presents piled up at the bottom of the tree. On each present, write a different type of gift that would only cost time. Include examples such as reading a book to a younger sibling or cleaning your room. Leave a few of the presents blank, and ask students for suggestions on what they could do for others that wouldn't cost much money.

    Twelve Days of Christmas

    • Decorate a bulletin board centered on the classic holiday song "The Twelve Days of Christmas." Place a large Christmas tree in the center of the board, and add the appropriate visual to the tree, such as the partridge in a pear tree, to the board on the correct day. See References for a complete list of lyrics for the song.

    Decorations

    • Just as many people decorate their home for Christmas, decorate a bulletin board to look like a scene from your decorated home. Create a three-dimensional board that looks like a decorated fireplace. Hang a decorated Christmas wreath over the hearth, as well as pine swags, tinsel and actual Christmas stockings. Create a visual of logs and a fire inside the fireplace to add to the ambiance.
