The best-case scenario would be to have some savings for a good percentage of the down payment, then figure out how much you can spare each month on your car payments minus other necessary bills. To make sure you're getting the best deal on the car, go to a website that will give you the market value of the car--that way you will know if you're getting a good deal on your purchase.

Some people feel as though they have to go with the financing department at the dealership, but the fact is that you can go to any bank and take out a car loan. This is an excellent idea if your credit is in good shape. This way you'll be getting the best value because you'll have proof of what the car is worth. You're not required to show this document, so don't unless they give you a low estimate.
