How to Make a Popcorn and Dried Fruit Garland

    • 1). Buy bags of dried fruit, such as apricots, cranberries, raisins and apples or oranges. You can find these at local supermarket. You can also make your own dried fruit using a food dehydrator or in your oven. You can use any kind of dried fruit you want.

    • 2). Make some popcorn and put in a bowl for easy access. This can be done by using a microwave to cook microwave popcorn, use an air popper or cook the popcorn on the stove in a pan. If cooked on the stove, the popcorn will be a little greasy and if microwave popcorn is used, make sure that it is unbuttered or your hands could get messy.

    • 3). Thread a needle to string the popcorn and dried fruit. You can use thread, dental floss, fishing line or even yarn for the stringing. The length of thread you'll need is however long you want the garland to be. Tie a double knot at the end of the threading, so that the popcorn and dried fruit won't slide off.

    • 4). Pass the needle through a piece of popcorn and then through one of the dried fruit. Keep alternating between the popcorn and each piece of dried fruit. You can also string the popcorn and dried fruit in any order you want. When you have the popcorn and dried fruit on your garland, tie off the end of the thread with a double knot.

    • 5). Hang the finished garland around your Christmas tree. Or you can hang it on the mantle of a fireplace, around windows or pictures or on banisters. You can also hang the popcorn and dried fruit garland on trees outside or on your front or back porch. The birds can enjoy feeding on the garland if placed outside when food is scarce in the winter time.
