7 Rules Of Successful Internet Marketing

I have recently taken several courses on how to make money online and have pulled together a list of guidelines that really make a lot of sense to me.
Some of these depart from what some of the Gurus are preaching, but I think these appear very sensible.
There are 7 of them as follows:
  1. Give First, Sell Second.
You should try develop a long-term relationship with your customers by not trying to sell them something initially but rather either giving them some good content or selling them a quality product at a low price, making them appreciative.
That way you'll be able to sell them repeatedly over time, and they will become a valuable asset.
If you take this approach, the people on your list will actually look forward to your emails and will be more receptive to your offers.
  2. Never Stop Believing In Yourself Or Your Business.
It's fairly common knowledge that the vast majority of aspiring entrepreneurs who try to make money online never make a penny, get discouraged, and quit.
I suspect that even the most successful Internet Guru's had a rough time when they first started out.
And I believe, as many of these Gurus have advised, that if you stick with it, ultimately you'll figure things out and start making money.
Virtually every successful online marketer starts out as a failure.
  3. Acknowledge That There Is No "Easy Button.
    "
This goes counter to what a lot of Internet Marketers selling their products are telling you.
But the truth of the matter is that making money online is a process that takes time...
    and hard work.
This is a criticism of a some of the Internet Market products being offered on the market today.
Push-button marketing usually only works for a short time if it works at all.
  4. Build A Deep Foundation If You Want A Big Business.
If you're preoccupied with making a quick buck, you'll never develop a substantial, profitable, long-term business.
Following from the aforementioned, the key to success is building a strong relationship with the people on your list.
If you build your credibility with your list and always either give or sell them high quality content, you'll end up with the most valuable asset you can have--a list of responsive buyers.
One thing you should never do is to try to sell them a lousy product, because once you do that, you'll lose their trust and some of them forever.
  5. Go Deeper, Not Wider.
Once you've found a niche that you are finally making money at, develop other revenue streams from sub niches within that niche.
Many marketers move horizontally too quickly over a wide range of different niches.
But if you "go deeper, not wider," you'll make more money in the long run.
I've also found this to be true from my own experience.
You go through the same basic niche and keyword research process to build optimized niche sites, and for every five sites I build, only one or two makes money.
So rather than repeat the same process again, wouldn't it make sense to build a larger number of sites around your more profitable niches?
  6. Choose Passionate Markets, Not Hobby Markets.
There is more high-earning potential in markets that people are passionate about.
They will spend more, on the average, than hobbyists.
This is something you can only learn from experience, and I have to say that the line between a "passion" and a "hobby" can be blurry.
Some people are passionate about their hobbies, so you have to think hard about it in your analysis.
The key factor, I think, should be the commercial viability for each niche.
After all, that's what Internet Marketing is all about.
    It's a business, bottom line.
So is playing golf a hobby or a passion? Having once been a golfer myself and before that a caddy, I'd have to say some golfers are obsessed with their games and spend thousands of dollars in pursuit of breaking 80.
Others are weekend golfers and while some may be passionate about it, it's really more of a hobby for them.
But even the hackers spend money.
So why not try to focus on the real fanatic golfers--those who desperately want to break 80.
They'll be more likely to spend more money pursuing their "passion" than the weekend golfers.
  7. Stop Looking For Excuses And Accept Your Results.
Nobody hits a home run the first time at the plate.
So if you strike out, don't blame other factors besides your own failings.
Learn from it, correct it, and "Take Action and Move Forward.
" Internet Marketing is a learning curve, and almost by definition, you're going to fail before you succeed.
Most likely, you'll fail multiple times.
This principle is key, because most aspiring Internet Marketers fail, get discouraged, then give up.
They're constantly searching for the "right" way to become successful and don't really take the necessary time needed to zero in on a particular program and work it until they start making some money.
So the pattern to success is to review the various products that are being sold, pick out the ones that make the most sense, start with the best one and work it until you see some profits.
Once you've tapped that product, then you can hire someone to continue managing it, particularly if it involves a lot of "rinse and repeat" activities.
At that point you can move on to another product opportunity.
If you follow these basic principles, the odds for your success will be greatly enhanced.
