- 1). Dig out the grout from around the tile with a grout saw, scraping the carbide blade forward and back. Work your way all the way around the perimeter of the tile, getting as much of the grout out as you can.
- 2). Stand the iron chisel at the middle of the tile. Strike it forcefully with your hammer, knocking a hole in the center of the tile.
- 3). Make two diagonal lines across the surface of the tile with your glass cutter, from corner to corner and intersecting through the hole you broke in the middle of the tile. The cuts should visibly score the glazed surface of the tile.
- 4). Hold the chisel on one of the scored lines, near the middle. Hit it hard with the hammer. Reposition the chisel to another part of the line and repeat.
- 5). Continue setting the chisel at different parts of the line and hitting it straight down, until the tile begins breaking up at the lines. Break it all up, taking care not to damage the adjacent tiles.
- 6). Pull out all the chunks of broken tiles. Repeat for each tile that has to come out.
- 7). Scrape the exposed underlayment with your razor scraper to get it smooth and flat.
