- 1). Inspect the old bowstring carefully. Using a bow press should ensure that it does not snap and cause injuries. Always where eye protection when changing a bowstring.
- 2). Insert the bow into a bow press. Make sure you use a certified or approved bow press so you do not void your warranty. Place the bow properly in the bow press and check that the pressure is evenly distributed across the limbs. Use a bow press that is adjustable to the full length of your bow's riser.
- 3). Check the new string for any flaws. Wax the new string. This will make installation easier.
- 4). Install the new string over the old one. Follow the old string and carefully remove it while inserting the new string.
- 5). Inspect the pulleys, string and bow one final time before removing it from the bow press.
- 6). Release the tension from the bow press slowly and remove your bow. Check to make sure that the bow did not get bent out of shape. Pull back the string carefully and slowly, under control, return it to the resting position.
- 7). Test out the new string at the archery range and make sure the bow is working properly and firing straight.
