How to Waterproof a Shower Seat

How to Waterproof a Shower Seat

    • 1). Build the seat frame to the height and width you desire.

    • 2). Lay the vinyl over the mortar and up along the front of the seat, on the top and up the wall behind the seat. You should go at least 6 inches above the seat height.

    • 3). Staple the vinyl along the wall studs and trim the excess.

    • 4). Mix mortar as indicated on the instructions and pour it on the vinyl membrane. This should be about a half an inch thick. Use the spatula and trowel to smooth it out and push it up the wall. Allow this to cure for 24 hours.

    • 5). Install your granite, marble or tile over the mortar-covered vinyl.
