- 1). Place a piece of duct tape over where the handles (cabinet pulls) will be. Center the handles on either end, about 1 inch in from the ends. Use a marker to mark the drill spots on the tape for the screws.
- 2). Fill a container large enough to hold the piece of granite, such as a plastic storage bin or a bathtub, with a few inches of water. Place the granite in the bottom, on top of a folded old towel.
- 3). Attach a diamond drill bit designed for drilling through granite to your electric drill. Make sure the bit size is the same size as your screws, since granite doesn't "give" the way wood does. Drill the four holes through the granite tile, working slowly, lifting the drill often to cool the bit. Use a good-quality bit for this project, or else you might have to use several bits to get through the hard stone. Use a light pressure as the bit grinds through the stone.
- 4). Screw the handles into place on the platter, adding a drop or two of granite and stone adhesive into the screw hole. Tighten the nut on the bottom until it is snug, but don't overtighten.
- 5). Slide vinyl caps over the nuts on the bottom of the platter, using a small amount of the adhesive to hold it in place.
