- 1). Plug the electric guitar into your amp and turn the amp on. Pick up the guitar and make sure it is in standard tuning, using any method you want. You must start out in standard tuning before attempting to tune the guitar to "Drop C."
- 2). Place a finger on the third fret on the "A" string and play the note a few times to hear the sound. This is a "C" note, and you are going to tune the low "E" sting to match this note. Turn the tuning peg for this string and play the string without holding down a fret until the note from this string sounds like the note from the "A" string.
- 3). Place a finger on the seventh fret on the low "E" string and pluck it a few times to hear the note, which will be a "G." Using the same method in Step 2, turn the tuning peg for the "A" string until it sounds like the "G" note.
- 4). Place your finger on the fifth fret on the "A" string and tune the "D" string with the tuning peg until it sounds like the same note. Place your finger on the fifth fret of the "D" string and follow the same process to tune the "G" string. Place a finger on the fourth fret of the "G" string and tune the "B" string accordingly. Finally, put a finger on the fifth fret of the "B" string and tune the "E" string to complete "Drop C" tuning.
