Do you ever ask yourself why you're a music junkie? (I'm going to assume you're a music junkie, because if you weren't, you probably wouldn't be reading this article right now.
) If you're like me, or millions of other folks, you rarely ask yourself this question.
But the truth is, you're likely a music junkie because music is a healing force in your life.
Healing force? Is this gal crazy? Well, yes I am, but that is another blog for another time.
A lot of music lovers don't think of music as a healing force, but it is.
Think about it for a minute.
When you're feeling sad or lonely, and you put on your favourite CD, doesn't it usually make you feel a little better? Think back to a time in your life when a certain album or song wouldn't leave you alone; when you played said album or song everyday.
You may not have noticed then, but that song or album likely helped you through your struggle.
Like a puppy or kitten, a favourite album or song can spark a healing inside of us we might not even notice.
How many times have you heard or read where a certain music artist has had fans come up to them after a show and tell them how a song changed their life for the better.
Maybe you yourself have done this and not put much thought into it.
There's the guy who is about to commit suicide, but a song playing on the radio makes him think about his family and helps him change his mind.
Or a girl, struggling through a rough patch in her marriage, hears a love song and decides to work things out instead of leave.
Now I'm not saying every song or album has these qualities for you or for me but, for someone, it might.
Even casual listeners can find the radio they put on for background noise offering a soothing moment.
So, to the title of this article -- does music really matter? I think without a doubt music matters, and I believe those who stop and think about it for a few minutes will, in the end, agree with me.
So go put on your favourite album and absorb the healing sounds.
