Reporting about a fight event such as mixed martial arts is not an easy task to do by yourself. However, by using the basics, you can do a good job for your own blog and get the results you need to develop quality articles. Here are a few tips that you can use to gather your results.
First off, call up the promoter. Get a press pass. Show your website to the promoter and let him or her know what events you have covered in the past. Promoters are always looking to get the word out about their show so this should be helpful to them. Ask them where they are going to be seated and plan accordingly for your camera and video shoot.
Next, get to the venue early. Go to your spot and find a good seat. Look at the lights and think about the best place to get shots. Will the lights shine directly on you? Will you be able to see the fighters when they are in their corners? Will you be able to use a flash? These are some of the things you have to consider.
Get a hold of the referee's card or the program. Whatever you can get your hands on. Write down all the results as you get them. Shoot as many photos as you can. The action will be fast. If you are a new photographer, you chose the wrong event to shoot. MMA is very fast paced. But do your best and don't get discouraged. If you can't get any good shots during the fight, get shots between the rounds with the cornermen helping the fighter, and also get the photo of the winner with his or her hand raised. You can at least get that because it is a much slower pace.
Finally, do all your interviews. Interview the winner. Interview the loser. Get their input and perspectives on the fights. Ask them about the pivotal moment and get more detail about it.
