- 4). Apply clean, cold water with a clean spray bottle, or blot the carpet with a clean, white towel dampened with cold water. Do not soak the carpet.
- 5). Blot the excess water and soap with a clean, dry towel, or vacuum the area.
- 1). Apply 1/4 cup of white vinegar with 1 cup of clean, cold water to the area if the soap stain contains ammonia or bleach. Apply 1/4 cup of ammonia with 1 cup of clean, cold water to the carpet only if the soap stain contains vinegar. Do not soak the carpet. Gently blot dry.
- 2). Apply 1 tsp. of liquid detergent and 2 cups of cold, clean water to the soapy area without soaking. Let it stand for five minutes.
- 3). Blot the excess moisture with a clean, dry towel. Vacuum the area after it's dried completely.
