Air nailers or nail guns come in various styles and sizes and are typically needed for large construction projects.
However, they can be used to make any size job easier than using a hammer.
Framing nailers can be used to put up a storage shed for example specially if you live in a city where neighbors are close.
It took me three days to put up my storage shed by myself using a hammer.
Framing the shed wasn't too bad but it became quite noisy when applying the sheeting and roofing.
My neighbors did complain about all the noise from my hammering.
I could only apologize since I didn't have access to a nailer in those days.
Putting on the roof shingles was the worst and a nailer would have been welcomed at that point.
Nailers are a little noisy but not like a hammer and you can do the job a lot faster.
Nailers are easy to use and an air compressor is required to apply constant air pressure on the nailer.
The compressor should be large enough to exceed the pressure required to operate the nail gun.
You will also need an air hose that attaches to the nailer and the compressor.
You can't always carry your compressor up to the job.
A fifty foot hose is usually adequate.
If you only have one storage shed to build I wouldn't consider buying this equipment.
You can rent the equipment quite reasonably these days.
However, if you do a lot of woodworking then I wouldn't hesitate buying my own.
Brad nailers and finish nailers do a great job of protecting the visual quality of your work.
(no more hammer depressions.
) Whether you rent or buy keep the nailer oiled and clean and follow safety procedures at all times.
If you have never used a nailer before do some research and find out how they operate, question your supplier and practice on a piece of scrap wood so you know what the nailer can do.
