Frame Design

• A lift rotary cutter is usually referred to as a 3 point hitch cutter. This type of cutter utilizes lift arms, which are welded or otherwise attached to its frame. These arms are what the tractor lift arms attach to. The pull rotary cutter uses a hitch or tongue setup. This attaches to the tractor draw bar.
  
  

Wheels

• The pull rotary cutter uses two wheels, one on each side of its frame. This provides stabilization to the cutter. The lift rotary cutter is held in position by the tractor lift arms.The lift rotary cutter typically uses one wheel, mounted at the rear. This allows the mower to follow the terrain, without scalping the ground.
  
  

Maneuverability

• The pull rotary cutter is basically pulled like a trailer. The operator must understand the specific way in which the pull rotary cutter tracks behind the tractor -- especially important when backing up. The lift rotary cutter, because it is attached to the tractor lift arms, offers greater maneuverability and will go most places that the tractor will.
  
  

Lifting

• Because it attaches to the tractor lift arms, an operator can lift the lift rotary cutter for maintenance or to clear out any obstruction. The pull rotary cutter lacks any means to lift it. This complicates maintenance and limits the terrain that it can traverse safely.
