- 1). Open up a new spreadsheet in a spreadsheet creation program, such as Microsoft Excel or a Google Documents.
- 2). Title the new spreadsheet with the home-schooled student's name and grade as well as the current year.
- 3). Type the name of each subject the student studies in descending cells in the far, left column. The number of rows between each subject should correspond to the number of weeks in your grading period.
- 4). Write the days of the week or abbreviations for each day in order in the top row of cells. Leave the last two columns on the right side blank.
- 5). Record the student's daily grade in the cell that corresponds with the appropriate subject and day of the week. Begin a new row for each new week in the grading term.
- 6). Calculate a student's weekly average by adding each of the grades together and dividing that number by the number of days of work. Type this number in a bold font in the last cell of each week's row.
- 7). Calculate a student's final average by adding together each of his or her weekly grades in a subject and dividing that figure by the number of weeks in your grading period. Type this number in larger, colored or bold font on the farthest right hand cell on the top or bottom row.
- 8). Print the spreadsheet when your grading is complete and save it for your records.
