Migaloo The Magnificent! The Canine Archeologist

I would like to present to you, Migaloo, a 3 year-old Black Lab mix.
His claim to fame? Well, this special canine is being anointed as the Indiana Jones of the dog world.
Accompanied by her human, dog expert Gary Jackson, these two archeologists are digging up what may provide us with the key to unearthing ancient sites of great civilizations around the globe.
What is the key to their inherent success? Well Migaloo's nose is the answer.
The American Kennel Club explains that a dog's sense of smell can exceed a human by over 100,000 times in strength, which is ridiculous if you ask me.
Humans generally have about 40 million olfactory receptors, while dogs are estimated to have over 2 billion! You can imagine how this superior advantage in "smelling" can prove useful on dig sites dating back hundreds and thousands of years.
Before beginning the search, Migaloo had six months of training to locate ancient bones and items.
Her training consisted of a rigorous schedule of field trials and search tests - one specifically requires her nose to sample a 250-year old skeleton scrounged from a dig site.
But, as evidence suggests, this canine was clearly just beginning in his career as an archeologist.
Recently, Migaloo set a world record for unearthing the oldest bone by a dog.
This amazing find was over 500 years old and was more than six feet underground.
What is even more amazing is Migaloo exorcized extreme restraint by not chowing down on her ancient find, which bested her previous record by 425 years.
"She is an extremely clever little dog, quite amazing, she is certainly on her way to fame and fortune," South Australian Museum archaeology researcher Keryn Walshe told News.
com.
au after observing one of Migaloo's recent searches.
"We gave absolutely no cues, the dog sniffed around and went [and] stood over it, she was spot on.
We've never even heard of fossil dogs, nobody ever thought there would be any scent left on these old bones, nobody thought it could be done.
" What once might have been impracticable is now just another day's effort for the magnificent Migaloo.
She's more than a clever dog- she's a hard worker and a legitimate archeologist.
You can read about this jaw dropping story from this Herald Sun article.
A small piece of trivia that goes along with this story is what Migaloo actually represents.
Migaloo is the first and only recorded white humpback whale, living off the coast of Queensland, Australia.
